Banned Scientists

Documenting the impact of the immigration ban on U.S. science

About Us

International collaborations are the foundation of modern scientific research: immigration and travel restrictions directly threaten the quality of science in the United States. This site documents some of the impacts of the recent immigration ban. Impacts include deferred hires, cancelled talks, and compromised research, as well as the strain on researchers who are now wary to live in, leave, or visit the U.S. All of the individuals featured on this site have agreed to share their information.

This site was built by Sarah Cobey, an assistant professor in the Department of Ecology & Evolution at the University of Chicago, and Chris Karr, founder and chief developer at Audacious Software in Chicago.
